Iota Phi Theta Partners with the National Council on Aging (NCOA)

Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. has been awarded a grant by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) for their COVID-19 and Influenza Vaccine Uptake Initiative. The program is supported with funding from the Administration for Community Living, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  In addition to this targeted program for older adults and people with disabilities, Iotas will continue working to address vaccine awareness and hesitancy in communities of color. Building an educated and connected infrastructure around nonmedical factors that influence health outcomes, also known as Social Determinants of Health, will allow the Fraternity to stay on the forefront of health equity issues.

Break Down Testing & Vaccination Barriers

Older adults face many barriers when it comes to getting vaccinated. Some of these barriers include physical limitations, lack of access to healthcare facilities, fear of side effects, and misinformation about vaccines. Many older adults struggle with mobility issues or chronic illnesses, making it challenging to visit clinics, hospitals, or pharmacies.
